Bionaire Ceramic Mini-Tower Heater with LCD Control

Effective localized heater with bells and whistles
I bought this model heater from Costco. My only previous experience with space heaters is the radiating dish, and couple of no frill ones in 1990s.

This one delivers heat within 10 seconds of powering on. Temperature can be controlled (85 degree seems to be the max and 65 the minimum). The unit has a swivel base supports 90 degree oscillation. There is a fan mode and an "Eco smart" mode, which supposedly help save some electricity.

The unit is rated 1500 watts. I can veryify with a watt-meter. Upong starting up, it can go as high as 1800 watts, but gradually stabilized somewhere around 1450 for high heat or custom temperature setting, and around 800 watts for low heat. The energy savings mode cycles back and forth between high and low heat, but I haven't been able to get an average reading from my watt meter.

The fan is not quiet, but not loud either. It's constant and soothing enough which can be treated as background white noise.

Overall...

Broke twice
My daughter purchased this at Costco for me for Christmas. The oscillating feature stopped working in just 2 weeks. Returned to Costco for replacement as I really liked the heating (I type all day for work). A few times I have noticed a burnt smell and turned the heater to low. Today while working, I turned to high and within 5 minutes heard a terrible sizzling sound and now no heat on any cycle. Hopefully Costco will give us our money back.

Disappointed
I bought this at Costco about 2 weeks ago and it has worked 2 nights total. I have tried switching plugs, outlets, a more level location, unplugging it, reset it, nothing has worked. I'm in the process of returning it, not sure whether to return to Bionaire or Costco. Bionaire will replace with another similar heater, I'm concerned Costco will just give me another one of these.
